Amanda Garcia-Williams, PhD, MPH
Founder, Magpie Public Health LLC
Dr. Amanda Garcia-Williams is a social scientist and health educator with over 15 years of experience in public health, 10 of which are at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). She is a graduate of CDC’s Epidemic Intelligence Service, has led dozens of mixed-methods research and evaluation projects focused on violence prevention, hygiene promotion, enteric disease prevention, and disability and health. She has extensive experience in federal grants management, serving as a Project Officer on multi-million-dollar research and practice portfolios. Dr. Garcia-Williams has supported multiple emergency response efforts including Zika, Ebola, and COVID-19. She is passionate about applying behavioral and social science methods and theories to answering public health problems. Dr. Garcia-Williams obtained a B.S. from Tuft University, and an M.P.H and Ph.D. in Behavioral Science and Health Education from Emory University.
